What ever happened to The Uncle Vinty Show?

I seen him ages ago as a single act at Morraine Valley College in ILL ages ago, then seen him with his band there, and eventually booked him a number of times at my college (Prairie State). I used to know him, Peter, and the others, and still have some pictures of them somewhere.

He was absolutely funny as hell, and total entertainment. I miss him and the band so much. They were the only band too (at the time) ever to play I Am The Walrus live - something the Beatles said they couldn't do???

If I remember correctly, I believe his real name was Vinton Waterman Medburry Jr.

Hi ya. Finally saw your post and sad to say he is indeed not among us anymore.

I heard him on KSAN in SF back in the 70s and even recorded his concert on mini reel to reel. Once I left home, out went all my stuff! ; (

I'm still digging for some recordings myself.

Cheers!

I also saw The Uncle Vinty Show at Morraine Valley College. This would have been between 1973 and 1975.
As Rocky (I'd like to know who Rocky is),said, they did the Beatles song I Am A Walrus. I thought their ending to that was even better than the Beatles.
I'd like to know who Rocky is, because of his comment about booking Uncle Vinty at Prairie State College. Randy Shaykin was Social Director there for 75/76, Rich Hummel 74/75, Vicky Harper (responsible for me seeing Uncle Vinty) 73/74.
After The Uncle Vinty Show, I believe Peter, and one of the other members played in a band called The Movies.I saw them on TV. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking it was on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

I saw Uncle Vinty in the 70’s when I was young in San Francisco. I was about 6 when I worked my way back stage and got to meet him. Not only that but I introduced him to my mother and before you know it he was coming home with us. I was so excited thinking, wow, he will be hanging out at my house with his cool Viking hat. Of course my young mind didn’t realize it at that moment but he only had one thing on his mind and that was getting in the sac with my mother. Needless to say I was upset, heartbroken, and I never listened to his music again. https://youtu.be/McZkuZbFUvk

I met Uncle Vinty while he was hitch hiking in San Francisco in 1972. He told me he had a gig at the Boarding House on Bush Street, a small night club. He was the opening act for Tim Buckley that night, and asked me if I wanted to attend his show. I said sure, so he placed me and my friend on the guest list. He was a solo act, just he and his piano, strange but entertaining. I heard he passed away back in 1994 in San Francisco, not confirmed.
